LGFI Conducts 3rd Wellness 101 Course for 2011
Tuesday, 04 October 2011 12:52
To keep the momentum for Wellness 101, a third run of the course was conducted by the Lopez Group Foundation and Lopez Lifelong Wellness team last September 20-21, 2011 at the Eugenio Lopez Center in Sumulong Highway, Antipolo.
Twenty four (24) participants completed the two-day interactive course on wellness, with one (1) participant coming from outside the Lopez Group of Companies.
A variation implemented this time was a session on Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga conducted by instructors from YOGA Manila. Vinyasa is a movement breathing system—breathe movement synchronicity. The breath moves the body. It is a linking of asana to asana through the movement of the breath. With breath, core control and focus, it evolves into a moving meditation.
Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is taught in sequence, which is repeated every practice. The aim of the practice is to offer development and awareness of the self, the “side effects” being a stronger, more flexible, toned and healthier body, which is why most people are drawn to this.
Below are some of the participants’ messages and commitments to wellness after the course:
“I commit to live a healthier and joyful life guided by the ten (10) spiritual rules taught in this course…. Even if the one I will forgive will never forgive me.”

It must be stressed that for the past three (3) Wellness 101 courses conducted this year, the paradigm shift of participants from being unmindful of their well being to being conscious and committed to making certain lifestyle changes towards wellness is highly apparent. This indicates that the course is more than enough in achieving its intent of raising their awareness on the value of being healthy and well, vis-à-vis the pressures of work and daily life; and that the journey to wellness is a personal one, requiring their utmost diligence and commitment to be well and stay well.
A fourth run of the course will take place sometime in November.
