Dear Lopez Citizens,
There is wisdom in the saying, "An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure." Taking the proper steps to avoid getting sick and all the downsides that come with it, is the smart thing to do.
In recent weeks, the summer of 2009 has grabbed the world's attention on influenza, in particular, the H1N1 (swine) flu virus that the WHO fears might cause a pandemic. Already it has raised the pandemic alert level to 5, the second highest. It signals governments world-wide to dust-off their public health emergency plans and begin taking aggressive preventive measures. The same applies to private organizations.
In this regard, the Lifelong Team in collaboration with the Lopez Group Foundation Inc. has begun issuing e-blasts, or health advisories, regarding H1N1. Information contained therein are carefully culled from reports issued by the World Health Organization (WHO),the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC) and the Department of Health (DOH).
These advisories will be replicated in a special boxed section to maximize our efforts at information dissemination. So far, six (6) e-blasts have been issued on the following:
The Lifelong Team advises the reader to check this website regularly to keep abreast of the latest advisories. Additionally, the Team invites from time to time public health experts to speak before Lopez Group audiences on high priority issues such as this.
One such expert is the WHO Country Representative to the Philippines, Dr. Soe Nyunt U, who will address the Group's CEO's and participating teams in the Race to 180, the Lopez Group's 2nd weight reduction contest in as many years, on Wednesday, May 13, 10AM, at the Meralco Mini-Theater.
